Meet Dr. Crenshaw, PhD, Doctor of Video Games
Nikki Crenshaw has a PhD in video games – OK it’s in something more technical and psychology-related, but her dissertation was on social interactions in World of Warcraft. She has a really cool job at Blizzard, working on video games. She has visited Chad’s Attic. She likes Sandman and Wicked and the Devine. Sure it’s not all comic books, but it’s my channel and I make the rules.
Chad’s Attic – Stuff I Read and Box Dive into the Marvel “S” Box
Wow 300 subscribers. I made another video today. I looked at a pile of new stuff I read and looked around in a box where I put some of them away,
Chad’s Attic: Box Diving – indies – Mage, Mai, The Mark
I had to do this one twice. I did the whole thing, came downstairs to import the footage, and discovered one of my cameras was capturing stills instead of video. I was ready to bail on the idea of doing a video, but my wife said I should do it again and she is always right, so here’s the second version.
After I finished this one I found I’d lost a lens cap. The fates were telling me not to do the video, but I have defied them! I’ll probably pay for that. I did eventually find the lens cap though, so up yours, fates.
Chad’s Attic – Box Dive – Marvel Box – Conan-Daredevil
Still working on this format. (It seems like I can get maybe a quarter of the way through a box in the ten minute limit. That means I have fodder for A LOT of these videos.
Chad’s Attic – Start with Action
Lets try this. I have some new cameras, and I have an idea for a format. How will it work? I don’t know, but I bet I can work on it.
(second version – fixed sound error.)
Chad’s Attic 360 Poster Portfolio
Still trying to figure out how to make 360 work.
This one I learned a couple more things. Don’t tilt the world. It’s disorienting.
Panning is OK, but keep it limited. I like the old “Chad’s Attic” intro on the screen – effect.
VR360 Places in Maine – Around Portland
This is an experiment. I have a new 360 cam and I’m trying to figure out what types of subjects might be effective in this format.
I’ve already learned that when your intended audience is 360VR head-mounted-displays, you don’t really want to move the camera, and most of the time you want to place the camera at something like eye-level.
Sometimes it’s impossible to get out of the shot yourself, so this is an experiment at just being in the shot, in real-time. In the edit process I learned that close is OK. In some shots I was closer that I would have otherwise chosen, because I wanted to keep a foot on the stand to prevent the camera from blowing over in the wind. (there’s a sad story there)
I think when discussing specific features as host, just pointing isn’t enough, I should include some more definition of what specific feature viewers can see, because they might not see me point and even if they do, it might not be clear what exactly I’m referring to.
I also should do more homework and have a better plan for what I wanted to talk about for the next time. Now that the weather is improving in Maine, I have a few more places to film on my list.
This was shot with a GoPro Max on February 29, 2020
