Episode 39 – Just another chat from Chad in the Attic.

Back in the attic again! I kind of had to do a regular show because I’ve been stuck at 198 YouTube subscribers for something like two weeks! I can see that 200 threshold just past the next corner. This show features some new comics I liked and one I really, really didn’t. and I did another installment of “Thirty Years Ago”

Episode 38 – A full year in Chad’s Attic.

We’re a full year into Chad’s Attic, and a handful of people are still watching! That counts as a win! This time, we talk about the Avengers and the new Wasp, Nexus(just a bit), Steve Rude and the return to comics of Space Ghost. There’s a big bad jump cut near the beginning where I realized I was prattling on about stuff no one cares about. Kind of like now.

I did this one in the first take, so it’s slightly ragged, but I wasn’t sure it was going to get better the second time.

Episode 31 – And your Little Dog too.

So Jonny Quest was on originally when I was four years old. But it was on Saturday morning in reruns for several of my early years. It is burned into my brain. Walking spider robots, Race Bannon dyed blue, electric aliens. and a funny dog name Bandit.

In 1986, Comico published a really nice Jonny Quest comic book that ran 31 issues. I talk about that in the new episode.

Episode 30 – it’s all about the numbers

Thirty. How did I ever get to thirty? And the on the same episode I hit 150 YouTube subscribers! In this episode I look at all thirteen issue #150s in the collection. I would have done all the issue #30s, but there were over a hundred of those. This was another first take. I procrastinated doing it for several days and then when I did, everything went really smoothly.

Episode 29 – Catching Up the Pile.

Chad’s Attic 29. I have slackened the pace of the regular Chad’s Attic videos. I’m not sure if that’s because of Seasonal Affective Disorder, or the holidays or what, but it took a while to get this one out, really because it took a while to get upstairs in front of the camera. My wife says I spend too much time worrying too much abut the details in these things. She might be right. Production has gotten so complicated it they takes a lot of time, so I’m trying with this one to simplify by not doing all the fancy graphics moves and just doing the second camera. Also this was the first time I ever used the first take. After I finished the first one, which I really was thinking was a run-through, I thought to myself, “That wasn’t all that bad.” I know if I did another one, I might not be any happier with it, so I went with the first take. I hope you like it. If I can keep it simpler I think I’m more likely to do more of them over time.

So the two big mistakes with this one, not counting the bumping of the comics cam, were I forgot to turn off the light over my left shoulder, and I didn’t put the “Into the Boxes” bumper in exactly the right place. The ending thing where I got up, I did on purpose. Also no one has mentioned the addition of Lily the Orange Terror to the intro. If you have comments leave them on the video on YouTube. Thanks for watching!

What’s New – December 2 Edition

Here’s what you have to look forward to in your comic shop visit this week. I still have to figure out how to handle that second camera (iPod). I need to have it close enough so I can monitor, at the same time it’s far enough away to get the entire cover. Also my backlight ran out of battery while shooting, so I learned I need to recharge that more often.
